Day 20 - Click image for larger view
I planned a full day to scooter completely around Bermuda. To remain on the safe side I anchored Southern Light back across the harbor. This photo was taken just out of town from a roadside bluff.
Zooming in on Sea Lion at anchor across the harbor.
Roadside on the South Road near Watchill Park
Screenshot from video of how incredibly dangerous some of the roads are here! Few roads have sidewalks. I had passed this lady walking around a blind corner when a loaded truck came barreling around much too fast. I had to circle back just to make sure she was ok. As I returned this taxi whipped over as I was approaching. There was very little space for larger vehicles to pass between the shear rock walls, not to mention anything else between. I don't believe vehicles traveling in opposite directions could have stopped given the speeds they were traveling and the limited view. Fast drivers mixed with very scary situations are not safe! "On a per-capita basis, Bermuda's roads are among the most deadly in the world"
The 2017 America's Cup was held here. Near the cruise ship area known as the Dockyard Bremuda on the far Eastern tip.
Golf courses are world renowned, beautiful vistas almost everywhere.
The southern shoreline is mostly rocky with a few beaches in coves.
View of the Dockyard from a distance. Rusty old hulks of barges remain at their final resting places, foreground.
After a long day of dangerous scooter riding I located a laundromat. Back at Southern Light I gathered all the dirty laundry. Three or so hours later I was back across the harbor with clean material.
