Getting into a routine. Needing more sleep I start setting the mechanical egg timer next to my ear for up to 15 minutes then up for a look around the horizon and checking OpenCPN course plotter on laptop, battery supply and many other items. I could tell by creeks and moans of the boat if anything had changed in an instant. It's an odd feeling adjusting to this new lifestyle. Learning to relax and chill a little at a time without becoming complacent!
A catamaran heading southeast, most likely Bahamas bound.
Sunsets are a special time to reflect. This was one of my last with the US mainland just below.
I rely more and more on the AIS alarm. Knowing that Southern Light's position, course and speed were also being transmitted to the ships eased some tension.
The autopilot track line, seen here, was very handy for quick performance reference. I typically used it to help determine the best sail trim and water current push.
