Day 24 - Click image for larger view

Here comes the rain! And just like that the winds started picking up. I had been watching a large rain cloud approaching Southern Light from the northwest. It didn't look all that menacing so I altered course for an intercept hoping we'd get a wind increase.

The wind started to increase as the clouds came closer, Southern Light needed a little breath of fresh air.

She slowly started to gain speed as I tidied up a little.

The rain shower was short lived but provided a little fresh water rinse.

Man o War started showing up more often.

A satellite post at the time: Beautiful on the Big Blue with White Nosetip Dolphins! Sat Jun 15 2019 13:43:00 GMT-0500 (Central Daylight Time) Been a slow few days, only one frontal line with minimal winds. Gathered one gallon of rain water. Not much but enough to wash a shirt or two. Huge pod of dolphins with white tips on their nose, lower sides and belly. They stayed around an hour darting around the boat. We had a good conversation! At this rate it will be around 3 weeks to Horta, Azores but who is in a hurry. Enjoying the ocean life very much. Southern Light was not designed as a downwind sailor. I've some mods to make to prevent chafe on the mainsail. Baggywrinkles were on my list but time was ticking, possibly make something next port. Hope everyone is well, thinking about you all. Bye for now.
