The next morning while scanning our surroundings I couldn't help but notice the inflatable doll figurehead on a sailboat across the way. Sailors really know how to party!
Sorry, I'm terrible with names so let's call him Cam. Cam was making a video about the 1999 Havana Cup Regatta and stopped for a chat on Mr.Hoot, the smallest of the fleet!
Here you can see just how close we were to the underwater rock ledge!
With our friends we decided to head for Havana. It was much further than the eight of us cared to walk but we started off all the same. We made it almost a mile when someone stuck out their thumb as if to hitchhike. Amazingly a school bus pulled over. Joe negotiated $1 each to Havana, what a deal! It was much further than we realized. We never would have made it on foot. The school bus stopped a few times to pick up some students and let others off along the way. At one point the driver pulled over at an old abandoned service station. He got out with an old dirty plastic container. After walking through the knee high weeds and old rotted wooden fence a few minutes he returned to siphon a few gallons of fuel into the bus and off we went.
